The Power List 2019: Roz Mallet

Aspiring to do well by doing good

The annual NRN Power List is the definitive list of people setting foodservice trends today and shaping them for tomorrow. See the full list >>

Roz Mallet, president and CEO, PhaseNext Hospitality

PhaseNext Hospitality has become a multi-concept operator with the aspiration to be a business that does well by doing good. And that is a direct reflection of Roz Mallet, PhaseNext president and CEO.

Mallet, who served as chair of the National Restaurant Association in 2012, has a long history of following that do-well-do-good philosophy, even before starting Dallas-based PhaseNext.

PhaseNext operates largely in non-traditional locations like airports and military installations, with a wide range of franchised locations of Buffalo Wild Wings, Corner Bakery Cafe, Italian Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck and Smashburger.

And her impact in the industry and beyond is wide and deep. She serves on the board of directors of Share Our Strength/No Kid Hungry and has been instrumental in the Women’s Foodservice Forum, leading the search committee for that group’s CEO.

Before co-founding PhaseNext in 2009, Mallet served in a broad range of restaurant and hospitality leadership positions. She was chief operating officer from 2004 to 2007 at La Madeleine French Bakery & Café and senior vice president of human resources from 2000 to 2003 at TGI Friday’s, then owned by the Carlson Cos. She also served as interim president and CEO of Caribou Coffee.

Mallet has become a Renaissance Woman of Restaurants, with her experience and guidance in areas as wide ranging as operations and human resources to portfolio management and financial analysis.
