Grill Concepts readies for expansion with hire of construction VP

LOS ANGELES Full-service operator Grill Concepts Inc. said it has reinforced its infrastructure for an expansion push by hiring a veteran of the Rite Aid drugstore chain as the restaurant company's first vice president of construction and development.

As part of the "accelerated growth strategy," Grill Concepts also promoted Louie Feinstein to senior vice president of operations and Terri Henry to vice president of marketing. Feinstein, 54, was previously vice president of operations, and Henry, 47, was director of marketing.

Joining the company is Steven Thomas Carter, 40, previously director of construction for the western division of the Rite Aid chain. Grill Concepts, which operates the Daily Grill casual-dining chain and The Grill on the Alley fine-dining group, said Carter oversaw the development of 40 to 62 development projects annually during his time with Rite Aid.

In July, Grill Concepts raised $14.1 million in a private offering. The company indicated at the time that the funds would be used to push beyond the 22 Daily Grills and five The Grill on the Alley restaurants that are currently in operation. Based here, Grill Concepts also is looking at a new grab-and-go concept called In Short Order to complement the Daily Grill brand.
