Frances Allen, CEO, Boston Market Corp.

Frances Allen joined Boston Market as CEO in May 2018 and has big plans to break the brand out of the box consumers have crammed it into.

Known for its rotisserie meats and festive sides, the fast-casual brand currently does 20 percent of its annual sales in November and December.

“This is our Super Bowl,” she said of Thanksgiving during an interview with NRN in November. “It’s what we train for all year.”

But the new leader, who moved over from Jack in the Box and has also led marketing at Denny’s, has plans to reposition Boston Market by focusing on culinary innovation and menu diversification.

“Right now, we don’t have any cold sides like potato salad or pasta salad,” she said. “There’s no reason why we can’t be catering July 4th events or Labor Day barbecues if we had a better selection of options appropriate for that time of year.”

Allen hinted that new dishes could be arriving as soon as summer 2019.
