King’s Seafood Company has promoted Kelly Ellerman to the newly created position of chief people officer, the company said Monday.
Ellerman previously served as director of human resources for the Costa Mesa, Calif.-based multi-concept operator of the 11-unit King’s Fish House chain, as well as the restaurants Water Grill in Los Angeles; Ocean Avenue Seafood in Santa Monica, Calif.; and 555 East American Steakhouse in Long Beach, Calif.
She has been with the company for 13 years. Prior to joining King’s Seafood, Ellerman operated restaurants for independent owners for about 10 years. She also spent about four years in human resources for a Southern California telecom company.
“We are pleased that Kelly has accepted the position of chief people officer,” said Sam King, King’s Seafood Company’s president and chief executive. “Kelly has been an important part of our team’s success for the past decade, and it has been a pleasure to watch her develop into the tremendous leader she is today. I look forward to Kelly continuing in her new role and helping make King’s Seafood Company an ‘employer of choice.’”
King’s Seafood, which has about 1,400 crew members, also operates the concepts Pier Burger in Santa Monica, Calif.; Fish Camp in Huntington Beach, Calif.; and Lou & Mickey’s in San Diego.
