Patrik Hellstrand has been named CEO of fast-casual vegan chain By Chloe, the company said Thursday.
Hellstrand, a veteran of the hotel and consulting industries, most recently was CEO of Oath Pizza, a Boston-based lifestyle brand touting its meat as being raised using certified humane practices. Immediately before joining Oath Pizza in 2016, he was group vice president at the fitness club company Equinox.
By Chloe, based in New York City, was founded in 2015 by celebrity chef Chloe Cascarelli and Samantha Wasser, daughter of restaurateur Jimmy Haber who is CEO of ESquared Hospitality. Cascarelli has since severed ties with the concept, and subsequently sued Haber for trademark infringement.
There are currently 13 By Chloe locations and two vegan bakeries called Sweets by Chloe.
“I’ve long been committed to the movement and focus around wholesome food and sustainability, which is why I love how By Chloe has been able to carve out a niche and offer a plant-based menu with an added, uniquely indulgent, feel-good food experience,” Hellstrand said in a press release announcing his appointment. “I couldn’t be more excited to join Samantha and this team at such an exciting stage of the company's life to help position the brand for continued success.”
Wasser said the appointment of Hellstrand would help drive the company’s growth.
“We are honored to welcome Patrik to the By Chloe family at such a pivotal moment in the brand’s growth,” she said. “Patrik’s operational expertise and respected experience within the hospitality industry will be invaluable to the future of By Chloe and I look forward to collaborating with Patrik to actualize By Chloe’s full potential.”
In April, By Chloe received an undisclosed investment from a group led by Bain Capital Double Impact.
Nation’s Restaurant News gave By Chloe the MenuMasters Trendsetter award in 2017 and named it a Breakout Brand in 2016.
