Panera’s president resigns

RICHMOND HEIGHTS Mo. Neal Yanofsky is stepping down as president of Panera Bread Co. effective Jan. 4 to pursue “other career opportunities,” the bakery-cafe company said Tuesday.

The company did not elaborate on Yanofsky’s plans.

The operator or franchisor of 1,137 Panera Bread and St. Louis Bread Co. shops said Yanofsky’s duties would be split between chairman and chief executive Ron Shaich, executive vice president John Maguire, and chief financial officer and senior vice president Jeff Kip.

As president, Yanofsky oversees Panera’s information services, legal, human resources, business development, finance, accounting and supply chain functions, the company said.

“I want to thank Neal for his service to Panera,” Shaich said. He has been a valuable member of our family for over four and a half years and we wish him all the best.”
