Firehouse promotes franchising exec

JACKSONVILLE Fla. Firehouse of America LLC, the franchising division for the 372-unit Firehouse Subs chain, has promoted Don Fox to chief executive, succeeding company co-founder Robin Sorensen.

Fox had been chief operating officer of Firehouse of America since 2003, and prior to that was with Burger King Holdings Inc. Sorensen will become chairman of the franchising company and will remain chief executive of the chain’s parent company, Firehouse Restaurant Group Inc.

Sorensen said in a statement: “Don is wise with industry experience and since day one has embraced and held true the deep-rooted core values that have made Firehouse Subs successful over the past 15 years.”

Fox will oversee franchise development, which this year is scheduled to add 50 new units, including the new markets of Chicago, Oklahoma City, Pittsburgh and St. Louis, Mo.

Sorensen’s and his co-founder, brother Chris Sorensen, who serves as vice president of the parent company, plan to remain involved in both divisions.

Firehouse Subs has units in 19 states.
