Yum! grants Brazilian development rights to burger specialist

LOUISVILLE Ky. Yum! Brands has granted rights to develop franchises of its KFC brand throughout Brazil to Brazil Fast Food Corp., operator there of the 534-unit Bob's burger chain, the new franchisee said in a statement.

Brazil Fast Food will assume control of KFC's four company-owned stores in Rio de Janeiro through a new subsidiary, 22-N Participacoes Ltda. KFC opened its first company unit there in 2003.

KFC, which has 13,000 outlets worldwide, counts more than 80 countries and territories as homes to its units. Pizza Hut, another Yum brand, has operated in Brazil for more than 15 years.

Brazil Fast Food's company-owned and franchised outlets include traditional restaurants, kiosks and re-locatable trailers. It describes Bob's as Brazil's largest burger chain.
