White Castle is expanding its chicken ring and French fry lines, adding Buffalo and ranch-flavored rings and sweet potato fries as permanent menu items.
The two variations on the chain’s regular chicken ring — a breaded chicken product resembling an onion ring — had done well as limited-time offers in the past, as had the sweet potato fries, company spokesman Jamie Richardson said in a statement.
Richardson said the Buffalo flavor would appeal to patrons who like spicy food, while the “zesty” ranch flavor “brings a cooler sensation to the palate.”
He added that the fall seemed like an opportune time to add a sweet potato item to the menu as well.
Columbus, Ohio-based White Castle operates more than 400 restaurants.
