Coca-Cola Enterprises honors Orion Energy Systems Inc. with its first Supplier Excellence Award for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability. Also this week: Smithfield Foods Inc., Schwan’s Food Service Inc., Wixon Inc., Kold-Draft, Pernod Ricard USA, Southern Wine & Spirits, Absolut Vodka, and Santa Monica Seafood.

MANITOWOC, Wis. — Coca-Cola Enterprises presented Orion Energy Systems Inc. with the inaugural Supplier Excellence Award for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability. The award was designed to recognize a supplier that “has consistently demonstrated the values and commitment to excellence that we, as an organization — and our customers — demand, as we strive to produce and distribute the highest quality products available in the beverage industry,” CCE said. Orion designs, manufactures and deploys energy management systems, consisting primarily of high-intensity fluorescent and LED high-bay lighting systems, dynamic sensor and control technologies, direct renewable solar light pipes and photovoltaic generation technology.

SMITHFIELD, Va. — Richard J.M. Poulson said he will retire from his position as executive vice president of Smithfield Foods Inc. effective Sept. 1. Smithfield’s president and chief executive C. Larry Pope called Poulson “an extremely valuable member of the senior management team,” and added that he “has been helpful in our growth from a domestic provider of excellent pork products into one of the world’s most respected and recognized meat protein suppliers.” 

MARSHALL, Minn. — Schwan’s Food Service Inc. has named Yolanda Johnson to the post of marketing director for desserts. In her new role, Johnson will be responsible for the category’s product innovation and development, marketing, and performance. Johnson most recently worked in the licensing division of The Walt Disney Company’s consumer products group.

SAINT FRANCIS, Wis. — Wixon Inc., a supplier of seasonings, flavors and ingredients for the foodservice industry, appointed Kim Holman as director of marketing. Holman has served as a marketing consultant for the company since 2007. She will be responsible for managing all marketing, advertising and promotional activities and staff, overseeing business development activities and trade shows, and providing analysis of customer research, market conditions and competitor data.

ERIE, Pa. — Kold-Draft, a manufacturer of ice-making and bagging machines, has added five new management and engineering personnel to its manufacturing team. They are Lora Cortina, director of sourcing; Donald I. Higgins, supplier quality engineer; Jon Rodgers, process engineer; March H. Fischer, materials manager; and Ricardo Nieves, production manager.

NEW YORK — Pernod Ricard USA, Southern Wine & Spirits and Absolut Vodka have teamed up to help fight domestic hunger. Called “Help Fight Hunger in Your Community,” the partnership funded more than 1.7 million meals for individuals in need in Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, New York, South Carolina and the military. One meal was donated for each bottle of Absolut sold between April 2010 and June 2010 at participating stores, restaurants and bars in program markets. The program follows a similar effort last year called Kentucky Harvest that served more than 360,000 meals to needy persons in Kentucky.

RANCHO DOMINGUEZ, Calif. — Santa Monica Seafood has promoted Lisa Hogan to vice president of sales for national accounts. In her new post, Hogan will manage the growth of the direct sales force in Arizona and Santa Monica Seafood’s national account specialists. She joined the company 2000.
