Villa Enterprises opens 30 units in '09

MORRISTOWN N.J. Villa Enterprises Management, the operator of such quick-service brands as Villa Fresh Italian Kitchen, Green Leaf's and South Philly Steak & Fries, said it opened 30 new domestic and international locations last year.

The 318-unit company said the new-unit growth last year marked a 10-percent increase over fiscal year 2008.

Villa Enterprises said it expects to open between 20 and 25 new locations in 2010.

"We plan to continue the aggressive expansion of our great portfolio of restaurant brands in the United States and around the world," said Anthony Scotto, Villa Enterprises' chief executive.

Company developments in 2009 included being selected by the Las Vegas Sands Corp. to operate and manage the 5,770-square-foot food court at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem in Bethlehem, Penn. All five outlets in the food court will open as Villa Brands.

The Bethlehem resort also includes two Emeril Lagasse concepts -- Emeril's Chophouse and Burgers And More, a better-burger restaurant -- and the third outpost of New York's famous Carnegie Deli.

During 2009, Villa Enterprises also won a bid to open four new stores at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
