NASHVILLE Tenn. Shoney’s is rolling out four new menu items and marketing them with a “Two Can Dine for $10.99” promotion through Sept. 30.
Under the limited-time promotion, two guests can select from among the four new menu items and two of the family-dining chain’s traditional items and receive both meals for $10.99. Participating restaurants are offering the promotion from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. or 11 p.m. daily.
The new entrées include Chicken Stir Fry, Chicken Alfredo pasta, a Popcorn Shrimp Basket and Burgundy Mushroom Chopped Beef.
Traditional items include the Grilled Chicken Dinner, served with rice pilaf, vegetables and sweet and sour sauce on the side, and the Half-O-Pound Dinner, an 8-ounce chopped beef patty smothered with onions and mushrooms, topped with two onion rings and served with mashed potatoes and vegetables.
Shoney’s is using television, radio and newspaper advertising as well as laminated menu handouts created by Atlanta-based Match Inc. to market the promotion. Shoney’s, which owns, operates or franchises 274 restaurants in 18 states, was acquired by David Davoudpour's Royal Hospitality Corp. in January. Since that time, much of the chain’s menu has been reviewed and refined, company officials said.
