NEW YORK Celebrity chef Bobby Flay is reportedly planning to launch an upscale burger chain.
Flay, owner of the high-end Mesa Grill restaurant concept, has so far inked deals to open three Bobby’s Burger Palace units and has five more in the pipeline, according to a report on GlobeSt.com, which covers commercial real estate news. One of the burger restaurants is under development in New Jersey and another is set to go into a shopping mall on Long Island.
David Rockwell’s Rockwell Group is designing the stores, which will average between 3,500 and 4,000 square feet each, the report said.
Flay’s partner, Lawrence Kretchmer, reportedly announced the deals at the recent International Council of Shopping Centers’ national conference in New York.
