With QSRs perking like mad, Seattle’s Best Coffee to spotlight tea

SEATTLE As the major quick-service chains push for more coffee business, Starbucks Corp.’s secondary concept, Seattle’s Best Coffee, is touting tea. The coffeehouse chain is inviting the public to sample three tea-based lattes for free at an “afternoon tea tasting” on Saturday, Jan. 26.

Between 2 and 4 p.m., customers at 500 Seattle’s Best branches can try a Caramel Tea Latte, a Green Tea Latte, or a Chai Tea Latte. The drinks are made with Tazo Tea, a brand also offered in Starbucks outlets.

Starbucks bought Seattle’s Best in 2003 from AFC Enterprises, the parent of Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits. About 400 of Seattle’s stores are located inside Borders bookstores.

Seattle’s Best also wholesales coffee through grocery stores and foodservice establishments.
