Metromedia unveils new concept

News

FORT WORTH, Texas Metromedia Restaurant Group of Plano, Texas, parent to the Bennigan’s and Steak and Ale chains, opened a new concept here Tuesday called 29 Degree Tavern.

MRG’s casual-dining division already has suburban versions of the concept (Plano Tavern and Southlake Tavern) in the area, and it calls this “an evolution.”  The name comes from the ideal temperature for serving beer.

“This is a new direction for us designed for our customers who want the best food made from scratch in an atmosphere that carefully combines sophisticated dining with the relaxed atmosphere of a sports bar,” said Flynn Dekker, vice president of marketing for 29 Degree Tavern and Steak and Ale.

The 220-seat Fort Worth prototype features reproductions of Fort Worth photographs from the late 1800s and early 1900s. MRG said it plans to expand the concept.

The menu includes such appetizers as Philly cheese-steak rolls and seared ahi tuna nachos, salads such shrimp and spinach-chicken, entrees such as sirloin and hickory-grilled double-cut pork chops and sandwiches such as a chipotle burger and a prime-rib panini. Entrees range from $6.99 to $22.99.
