Major League Soccer team names official technology provider

News

CHESTER Pa. Keystone Sports and Entertainment LLC, the ownership group of the Major League Soccer Philadelphia franchise coming on line in 2010 and slated to play in a new stadium, here, has named Panasonic System Solutions Co. the “official technology partner” for the new professional sports facility and adjoining Delaware River waterfront complex, Panasonic said.

Representatives of Secaucus, N.J.-based Panasonic said that in addition to supplying the new complex with point-of-sale-system technology, including the company’s Stingray Workstation, it also will be the exclusive provider of security/surveillance systems, large-screen LED displays and broadcast and TV production systems.

“Panasonic is a name respected around the globe, recognized for their innovation in consumer electronics and business technology products,” said Nick Sakiewicz, chief executive and operating partner of Keystone Sports and Entertainment, which is held by a number of investors from New York, Philadelphia and elsewhere. “This partnership will extend throughout the entire waterfront redevelopment project.”

Scheduled to open in early 2010, the 18,500-seat multi-purpose soccer and sports stadium will be constructed at the foot of the Commodore Barry Bridge, 13 miles from downtown Philadelphia, developers said. They said the stadium will feature an 11,000-square-foot club, 30 suites and a built-in concert stage and is the centerpiece of a $500 million entertainment, retail, residential and commercial development covering more than 100 acres along the Delaware River waterfront
