WINSTON-SALEM N.C. Football-shaped doughnuts are back on the menu at Krispy Kreme for a limited time, said the parent of the 490-unit chain.
The football doughnuts are regularly topped with chocolate icing, but Krispy Kreme said local stores would customize them with other colors of icing at no extra charge if given at least 48 hours notice. Krispy Kreme also is featuring the doughnuts in tailgate packs, which include a dozen football doughnuts and a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts.
The football doughnuts are available daily until Sept. 30, after which they will be sold only on weekends until Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 1.
