Jean-Georges Vongerichten returns to Boston

BOSTON Renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten will open a restaurant called Market in the W Hotel in Boston next week, officials from his restaurant development company said Thursday.

Market will feature a menu consisting of French, Asian and Italian dishes made from locally sourced food items.

The restaurant’s debut will mark Vongerichten’s return to Boston after two decades. He began his career in the United States as executive chef at the Lafayette restaurant there.

“It feels great to be back in the city that gave me my start here,” Vongerichten said. “I’ll be bringing a whole new palette of flavors, a ‘best of’ pulled from my menus in New York, with a touch of local Boston character.”

Christopher Lee Damskey has been appointed chef de cuisine at Market. Damskey previously worked at Vongerichten's Chambers Kitchen restaurant in Minneapolis.

The new restaurant is a partnership between Vongerichten's company, Culinary Concepts, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., parent of the W Hotel brand.
