GLENDALE Calif. IHOP has began celebrating its 50th anniversary with the launch of an apparel line that would transform purchasers into walking billboards for the family-dining chain.
The apparel is featured on a new website, www.ihopstuff.com. Three vintage-style items are available, including a fitted pink T-shirt for women emblazoned with the iconic phrase “Rooty Tooty Fresh ’N Fruity” and a stack of pancakes; T-shirts for men and women with an early International House of Pancakes logo; and a baseball cap with an “IHOP ’58” logo on the front and the anniversary logo on the side. The items cost $18 each.
Asweatshirt with the anniversary logo also is available for $20.
The promotion is the first in a yearlong celebration leading to the chain’s 50th birthday on July 7.
IHOP, founded in 1958, has more than 1,300 units in the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada and Mexico.
