Cheesecake names new day-to-day chief

CALABASAS HILLS Calif. The Cheesecake Factory Inc. said it has assigned responsibility for day-to-day operations of its flagship casual-dining brand to David Gordon, a former regional vice president for West Coast operations.

Gordon’s promotion to senior vice president of operations for The Cheesecake Factory-brand restaurants is one of several executive changes announced Wednesday by the company. Russell Greene, former senior vice president of beverage and bakery, has been named senior vice president of operations services. Jack Belk, a regional vice president, has been named senior regional vice president.

Donald Moore, formerly vice president of kitchen operations, has been named senior vice president, kitchen operations.

In his new capacity, Gordon, a 15-year veteran of the Cheesecake chain, will report directly to company chairman and chief executive David Overton. The SVP-operations position was newly created for Gordon, the company said.

The Cheesecake Factory chain remains without a president and chief operating officer. Those posts were vacated when Russ Bendel left to take the chief executive and president’s job at The Habit Burger Grill chain.

The Cheesecake Factory operates 141 namesake restaurants, as well as 13 Grand Lux Cafes and the new RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen concept, which is slated to open Thursday.
