With consumers tapped out from holiday spending, several restaurant chains are starting off the New Year with value-focused deals offering more for less.
Glendale, Calif.-based IHOP, for example, said it is bringing back its annual “All You Can Eat Pancakes” deal as a limited-time offer through Feb. 27. For prices starting at $4.99, guests can order all the buttermilk pancakes they can eat, served three at a time, at breakfast, lunch or dinner. They can also order the pancakes as part of a combo including the option of eggs, hash browns and sausage, bacon or ham.
“We have brought back All You Can Eat mouth-watering golden pancakes for those resolving to take time to enjoy the sweet side of life more often in 2011,” said Jean Birch, president of the 1,483-unit IHOP chain. “Our guests know IHOP is the perfect place to ring in the New Year and bring families together, all at a great value.”
San Diego-based Jack in the Box Inc. is also offering a post-holiday deal for a limited time. Participating restaurants throughout the 2,200-unit chain in late December launched a $3.99 Jumbo Deal that includes a signature Jumbo Jack hamburger, two tacos, a small order of fries and a small drink.
“Our $3.99 Jumbo Deal is one of the holiday season’s best bargains,” said Tammy Bailey, Jack in the Box’s division vice president of menu marketing and promotions. “Guests can receive four of our menu favorites for less than what some of our major competitors are charging for a single burger. That’s a great value for consumers looking for a full meal at a great price.”
Starbucks is helping to promote its newest breakfast sandwich by offering all morning sandwiches for $2 with the purchase of any hand-crafted beverage. The deal is available at participating stores through Jan. 10. Starbucks' new Veggie, Egg and Monterey Jack features an omelet with fire-roasted green and red peppers, diced onion and cheese on an oven-toasted artisan roll.
Typically, breakfast sandwiches at Starbucks range in price between $2.99 and $3.25 each, according to a spokesman.
Dallas-based Pizza Hut gave away 1,111 stuffed-crust pizzas on Jan. 1 — which was 1/1/11 — to kick off its latest limited-time offer. The first 1,111 customers who “liked” Pizza Hut on Facebook and clicked on a link on the chain’s wall on New Year’s Day received a $10 gift card toward a Stuffed Crust Pizza.
Following the giveaway, the more than 10,000-unit chain is offering all guests the option of a one-topping Stuffed Crust Pizza for $10 as a limited-time offer.
“At Pizza Hut, we want everyone to know that you don’t need to settle in 2011,” said Chris Fuller, Pizza Hut’s director of public relations. “Our New Year’s resolution is to give you all of your favorites — like our one-and-only Stuffed Crust Pizza — at a price you can afford.”
