COLUMBUS OHIO Bravo! Development Inc., based here, is using in its restaurants the Unified Threat Management information security appliance from Trustwave in its efforts to comply with the data security standards of regulators and credit and debit card organizations, the company said.
"In our initial planning for compliance, it became clear that we needed to react to the challenge of compliance and that we needed to do so quickly and with a professional partner who understood our challenges and our business," said Kathleen L. Chugh, vice president of information technology at Bravo. Her company operates more than 60 casual dining restaurants under such brand names as Bravo! Cucina Italiana, Brio Tuscan Grille and Von Vie Bistro.
Sources at Chicago-based Trustwave, a provider of on-demand and subscription-based information security products and services, said the 71 UTM-10 appliances being used by Bravo serve as firewalls and conduits for a virtual private network. They said Trustwave will monitor and manage all the devices, which also incorporate intrusion prevention, anti-virus and content filtering functions.
