Arby’s debuts toasted subs, signs deals for 35 new units

ATLANTA Arby’s has added Toasted Subs to its sandwich selections, the company said, noting that the debut is the chain’s largest menu launch since the 2001 rollout of the Market Fresh line.

The Toasted Subs line includes four varieties, all served on toasted ciabatta rolls. They include the French Dip & Swiss Toasted Sub, the Philly Beef Toasted Sub, the Classic Italian Toasted Sub and the Turkey Bacon Club.

The rollout of the Toasted Subs required the installation of special toasters in the stores, said spokeswoman Cathie Koch, who added that Arby's would start a national advertising campaign to promote the sandwiches.

Separately, Arby's said earlier this week that it had signed development agreements with 17 new and existing franchisees to open 35 restaurants in California, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and West Virginia. Four of the 17 franchisees are new, Arby's noted.

Arby's, based here, operates or franchises more than 3,600 units worldwide.
