Working Lunch: West Coast provides workplace protection roadmap for Joe Biden’s administration

States take the lead in employee and consumer safety and restaurant industry relief

The states can’t wait any longer for the Feds to get their act together and are having to step in and take charge of both employee and consumer safety, as well as restaurant industry relief. California and Oregon are out in front. This week on the Working Lunch podcast, the team from Align Public Strategies talks to Matt Sutton, senior vice president of government affairs and public policy at the California Restaurant Association, and Bill Perry of Balance Point and the Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Association, and lay out what’s coming for operators and how their states are likely a blueprint for the incoming Biden administration.

The team also discusses how states – and increasingly cities – are developing their own relief programs to support employees and operators in their efforts to stay afloat. The podcast wraps up with the weekly legislative scorecard.
