The Top 10 restaurant chains in the U.S. by average unit volume

Every year, Nation’s Restaurant News works with Datassential to present the Top 500 report, ranking restaurant chains based on U.S. systemwide sales.

But that’s not the only data point editors look at: NRN also presents unit counts and average unit volumes.

In this gallery, see the 10 restaurant chains in the 2022 Top 500 with the highest average unit volumes. All 10 of these chains saw year-over-year growth in AUVs last year, with one nearly doubling its number from the prior year.

And while one may expect this list to be full of casual-dining chains, one burgeoning fast-casual restaurant makes an appearance as well.

As for how they did it, be sure to read Joanna Fantozzi’s analysis of chains’ omnichannel technology.
