Starbucks: 5 things we learned this past week

Coffee giant gathers 12,000 store leaders in Chicago

Starbucks Corp. gathered more than 12,000 store managers and field leaders from the United States and Canada in Chicago this week for its Starbucks Leadership Experience, a three-day event Wednesday through Friday.

It was the first leadership gathering since 2012, when the Seattle-based coffee giant held a Global Leadership Conference in Houston, and CEO Kevin Johnson unveiled new initiatives around mental health in a letter to employees before the conference.

Here’s a look at what came out around this week’s leadership conference as well as other events, such as former CEO Howard Schultz’ presidential plans and new stores in China, connected to the company.
