Trending this week: Subway brings back version of $5 Footlong and more on Chipotle’s long-awaited quesadilla

This week on Nation's Restaurant News, Subway brings back a version of its popular $5 Footlong promotion, offering two subs for $10. The Milford, Conn.-based quick-service company did not say how many franchisees were offering the 2-for-$10 deal, even for its “limited time only” period.

Shake Shack took the top spot in the U.S. systemwide sales growth rankings, with 34.5% year-over-year growth in the Latest Year, according to NRN Top 200 data. MOD Pizza, which had been the fastest-growing Top 200 chain the past two years, moved to No. 3. Take a closer look at which other fast-growing chains were on the list.

Burger King released its Impossible Croissan’wich — a seasoned meatless Impossible Sausage with eggs and melted American cheese in a toasted croissant for $3.99. Dunkin’ introduced new Dunkin’ Refreshers. The Refresher is iced green tea, B vitamins (including B3, B5, B6 and b12) and fruit concentrate, and is available in Strawberry Dragonfruit and Peach Passion Fruit flavors at $2 for a medium.
