This week on Nation’s Restaurant News, Shake Shack will be giving year-end bonuses to all employees ranging from $250 to $400. The move to reward all workers at the end of the year comes as the New York City-based chain ends the 10% premium pay it had been giving hourly workers since the peak of the pandemic in April.
Domino’s released its first new pizzas in almost a decade, inspired by consumer needs during the pandemic. The chicken taco and cheeseburger pizzas will be available for a limited time at $11.99 for a large pizza or for a medium pizza at a $5.99 mix and match upsell to $8.99.
“The idea started from looking at the current food delivery landscape,” Domino’s chief marketing officer Art D’Elia told Nation’s Restaurant News. “With a lot of people relying on aggregators to get tacos and burgers delivered, there are a ton of social media posts out there about soggy burgers and tacos, so we wanted to give people tacos and burgers that actually stand up well to delivery.”
McDonald’s also plans to add two new limited-time offers next month: Spicy Chicken McNuggets and Chips Ahoy! McFlurry. It’s the first time the chain has introduced a new flavor to Chicken McNuggets in the U.S. since they debuted in 1983.
The spicy chicken nuggets, which debut Sept. 16, are breaded with a tempura coating made of a blend of cayenne and chili peppers. Also debuting for a limited time in mid-September is the Chips Ahoy! McFlurry, a blend of vanilla soft-serve and Chips Ahoy! cookie pieces topped with caramel.
