Menu Tracker: New items from Taco John’s, TooJay’s Deli and Starbird Chicken

Plus options from Daphne’s, Gregory Coffee, Ike’s Love & Sandwiches, Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, Miguel’s Jr. and Velvet Taco

As some large chains trim their menus to improve efficiency and manage labor, smaller ones are adding new items.

Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que is the latest chain to offer a new fried chicken sandwich — this one a variation on Nashville Hot Chicken with the unusual addition of Alabama white barbecue sauce. Ike’s Love & Sandwiches is evoking a different barbecue tradition with its new BBQ Burnt Ends Sandwich.

Elsewhere in meat news, TooJay’s Deli is bringing back its Philly Grilled Cheese with thinly sliced roast beef, Taco John’s has introduced The Boss Burrito, which weighs around one pound, and Miguel’s Jr. has a new spicy meat option thanks to a limited-time habanero hot sauce.

Starbird Chicken has rolled out a line of boneless wings, and Daphne’s is putting chicken on its summertime Strawberry Salad. Velvet Taco’s Weekly Taco Feature contains crawfish-pork jambalaya.

Gregory’s Coffee, by contrast, has introduced a vegan breakfast sandwich with plant-based sausage, cheese and egg substitute all on a butter-free croissant.

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, meanwhile, is offering new takeout options with a line of six frozen TV dinners.
