CEC Entertainment 3Q profit declines 4.6%

Same-store sales, revenue also decreased during the quarter

CEC Entertainment Inc., parent to the 571-unit Chuck E. Cheese’s chain, reported Thursday a 4.6-percent decrease in profit for the third quarter ended Sept. 29. Michael H. Magusiak, president and chief executive of Irving, Texas-based CEC, said in a statement that same-store sales turned positive in the first four weeks of the fourth quarter, but the company expects same-store sales to be “relatively flat” for the rest of the fiscal year.
 

NET INCOME

Result: $7.4 million, or 43 cents per share
% Decrease: 4.6% (from $7.8 million, or 45 cents per share)

REVENUE

Result: $195.9 million
% Increase: 0.3% (from $196.6 million)

SAME-STORE SALES

% Decrease systemwide: 2.1%
