Togo’s unveils reduced-price daily specials

SAN JOSE Calif. Togo’s Eateries Inc. on Wednesday began offering a daily special featuring one of its signature 6-inch sandwiches at the reduced price of $3.99, compared with the regular franchisor recommended price of $4.59 to $5.59.

Through the promotion, which has been described as a limited-time offer but has no specified end date, the 248-unit chain will offer a different designated sandwich each day at the lower price. For instance, at units in northern California, the meatball sub will be available on Monday and the chicken salad sub will be available on Tuesday, according to Togo’s website.

“We know that times are getting tough for many people and feel that it’s imperative to give back to all those who have supported us throughout the years,” said Tony Gioia, Togo’s chairman and chief executive.

As part of the daily special initiative, Togo’s also will donate a portion of each related sale to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The chain declined to detail the donation amount.

San Jose-based Togo’s Eateries is a subsidiary of Togo’s Holdings LLC, which is controlled by private-equity firm Mainsail Partners of San Francisco.
