IDQ Canada selects inventory and purchasing tools

News

MINNEAPOLIS International Dairy Queen Canada Ltd., a division of International Dairy Queen, based here, has selected Instill Corp. inventory and purchasing management technology and services for the fast-food chain's franchisee-driven operations in that North American market.

"Instill helps us improve our ability to perform a complete audit of our spending so we can enforce price and purchase compliance and maximize the success of our limited time offers," said Doug White, vice president of Dairy Queen's international group.

Brian Leibel is general manager of CDQ Co-op Ltd., the franchisee-controlled purchasing cooperative for International Dairy Queen Canada. He added that the new technology means, "Our teams across the country will be able to make better decisions and quickly respond to market changes because we will all be working off of a single source of truth."

Officials of San Mateo, Calif.-based Instill said the purchasing management technology collects and standardizes unit purchase information from distributors and identifies contract price variances as well as SKU and manufacturer optimization opportunities, among other functions. They noted that, among other things, the inventory management tool can track distributor inventory levels of a restaurant operator's proprietary products to help prevent stockouts, overstocks and product repositioning that pressure margins for promotional items.
