NEW YORK Restaurateur Shelly Fireman, owner and operator of such concepts as Redeye Grill, Bond 45 and Shelly’s New York in Manhattan, reportedly will open two restaurants in the Washington, D.C., area, marking the first time the operator has ventured outside of the New York market.
According to The Washington Post, Fireman inked a deal with developer Milt Peterson for $15 million to open the restaurants — a Redeye Grill and a Bond 45 — at Maryland’s National Harbor, a 350-acre mixed-use property along the Potomac River. The deal came about after an agreement between Peterson and Ark Restaurant Group fell through, the Post reported.
Fireman and Peterson will be partners in the new restaurant venture, and Fireman’s restaurant company, Fireman Hospitality Group, will operate the eateries. The menus will feature American bistro fare.
National Harbor, which is still under construction, also features hotels, retail shops and condominiums. The property is located about 15 minutes away from Washington.
