Qdoba to offer $6.99 chicken combo meals

WHEAT RIDGE Colo. Qdoba Mexican Grill, the more than 470-unit fast-casual chain based here, beginning Monday is dropping the price of its chicken entree combo meals nearly 20 percent.

The new chicken combo meal will be available for $6.99, the company said last Thursday. The average cost of a Qdoba chicken entree, regular drink and a side of chips and salsa is $8.70. Customers will save, on average, $1.71 with the reduced-price chicken meal, company officials said. The deal is available with chicken burritos, tacos, taco salads, quesadillas, nachos and Mexican Gumbo.

Select Qdoba restaurants also will offer for $1.99 a drink, chips and salsa or queso when purchased in combination with any entree.

Qdoba executives said they are hoping the lower pricing will entice penny-pinching Americans to come into the restaurants for combo meals, rather than making their own lunches at home.

“We understand that many Americans are trying to save money when it comes to their meals,” said Gary Beisler, chief executive of Qdoba, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of San Diego-based Jack in the Box. “We’re offering our customers an alternative to the often-boring, brown-bag lunch with an affordable, handcrafted meal option that’s hot, healthy and delicious and offers a lot of variety.”
