WASHINGTON Women Chefs & Restaurateurs said Thursday it has named local restaurateur Jamie Leeds to the post of president.
The chef and co-owner of CommonWealth Gastropub and chef-owner of Hank’s Oyster Bar, both of which are located in the Washington, D.C., area, will begin a two-year term in November.
WCR was founded in 1993 with the mission of promoting and enhancing the education, advancement and connections of women in the culinary industry.
Leeds also serves on the board of the American Institute of Wine & Food and is a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier. She is involved in such charitable organizations as Saks Fifth Avenue’s Key to Cure, DC Central Kitchen’s Capitol Food Fight and the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.
