BEVERLY HILLS Calif. Innovative Dining Group will open the first of what it hopes to be a chain of midscale sushi restaurants here late this year.
The Los Angeles-based company currently operates four Sushi Roku restaurants, three Boa Steakhouses and Katana Robata and Sushi Bar. Partner Lee Maen said the new concept, Luckyfish, will be a keitan sushi restaurant, a popular style in Japan in which the prepared dishes are rotated on a conveyor belt for customers to pick and choose.
He said the company planned to open four per year — first in Los Angeles, then in its suburbs, and then branching to neighboring Orange County and beyond. Ground breaking for the first unit, at 338 N. Cañon Drive here, is expected in the next few weeks.
Maen said he anticipated check averages of $20-$25, with the goal of filling a niche for customers who wanted to eat sushi three or more times a week.
The 2,500 square foot, 70 seat restaurant will serve beer, wine and sake and also will feature a case of pre-boxed sushi meals. Delivery service will be available too.
Tag Front is the designer of the restaurant.
