Hardee's buys name rights to Mo. ice rink

ST. LOUIS Hamburger chain Hardee’s has bought the naming rights to Summit Ice Center, in Chesterfield, Mo., which was renamed Hardee’s Iceplex this week. Financial terms were not disclosed.

As part of the deal, Hardee’s will allow the St. Louis Area Regional Abduction Alert program to post child-abduction alerts on the facility’s LED sign, which is expected to be built soon.

The iceplex is the home arena of the Chesterfield Hockey Association and the St. Louis Amateur Blues hockey team. The arena also hosts games of the St. Louis Bandits, which play in the North American Hockey League, and scouting events for the National Hockey League.

Hardee’s, based in St. Louis, has signed numerous professional and amateur sports-sponsorship deals in the past. Andrew Puzder, the chain’s president and chief executive, called the naming-rights deal "a natural fit, as Hardee’s has always been an avid supporter of local sports."

Hardee’s is a division of Carpinteria, Calif.-based CKE Restaurants Inc. and has nearly 2,000 units systemwide.
