CARPINTERIA Calif. Carl's Jr. and sister chain Hardee's have rolled out a new spicy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich that is being supported with another television commercial featuring a comely young woman.
The spot features actress and model Ashley Hartman as a sultry waitress, who tantalizes a male customer and gets him in trouble with his girlfriend. Hartman also has her own Carl's Jr. and Hardee's microsite. She gives tours and can be asked by visitors to invite friends to lunch by name.
The chains bill her appearance as the "steamiest display" since celebrity Paris Hilton's TV spot for the Spicy BBQ Thickburger in 2005.
The limited-time sandwich includes a crispy chicken breast fillet dipped in hot Buffalo wing sauce, topped with ranch dressing, red onions, tomatoes and lettuce. The sandwich is priced for about $4, and a combo meal sells for $5.79.
Parent company CKE Restaurants Inc. operates or franchises 1,079 Carl's Jr. and 1,923 Hardee's restaurants in the United States and abroad.
