Bruegger’s Bagels to debut in Boston, Cincinnati airports

BURLINGTON Vt. Bruegger’s Enterprises, parent of the 259-unit Bruegger’s Bagels chain, said it would open two airport outposts within the next three months.

One shop will open at Logan International Airport in Boston and the other will debut at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. A company spokeswoman said both stores are expected to be operational before Thanksgiving.

Bruegger’s recently reported systemwide sales of $42.1 million for the second quarter ended July 10, a 10.5 percent increase from the same quarter a year ago. Same-store sales for the quarter rose 3.8 percent, the company said.

According to Nation’s Restaurant News’ Top 100 survey, Bruegger’s annual sales for 2006 were $166 million.
