Bon Appetit switches to all-natural ground beef

PALO ALTO Calif. Bon Appetit Management Co., the contract foodservice concern based here, has switched to all-natural ground beef at its 400 accounts in the United States.

The company, a division of Charlotte, N.C.-based contract foodservice company Compass Group PLC, implemented the initiative March 20, and stated the beef, which is made of chuck meat, is free of all antibiotics and added growth hormones.

In addition, the cattle it comes from were humanely treated and are fed with feed that is free of all animal byproducts.

Bon Appetit has purchased antibiotic free chicken since 2003 and extended that policy to turkey breast in 2005.
