MIAMI Burger King Corp. said Monday it has sold 19 restaurants in the Des Moines, Iowa, area to new franchisee MKMB Restaurant Partners LLC, a minority-owned group.

The 19 restaurants were among 72 that Burger King acquired from Simmonds Restaurant Management last year.

Chuck Fallon, president for Burger King in North America, said, “We are delighted to have MKMB Restaurant Partners LLC as a new franchise owner and operator. We are also pleased to be working with an organization that has significant foodservice experience.”

Burger King owns and franchises 11,700 restaurants in more than 70 nations.
