Working Lunch: New joint-employer standard provides clarity for industry

Labor Department proposes regulation on joint-employer liability

In this week’s podcast episode, Align Public Strategies discusses the U.S. Labor Department’s proposal for a long-awaited regulation on joint-employer liability, potentially clarifying the law for many employers. Guest Matt Haller from the International Franchise Association stops by to shed light on what’s happening.

Additionally, the city of Chicago held runoff elections and the progressive wing of the Democratic party did very well — including winning the mayor’s office. And the labor community was active this week, protesting McDonald’s pivot on minimum wage and claiming it doesn’t go far enough. The Align team goes over these stories and the weekly legislative scorecard.
