Working Lunch: Masks, protests and relief funds — restaurants continue to drive the news

Plus, an update on alternative labor groups

Fight for $15 took to the streets this week, targeting McDonald’s workers in 15 cities across the countries by organizing strikes and walkouts. This was staged on the same day as the McDonald’s shareholder meeting to sync with shareholders and other activists calling for change. This week on the Working Lunch podcast, the team from Align Public Strategies will discuss whether, in light of the pending legislation in Congress, this moves the needle on the issue, and whether activists can take advantage of a new political climate in Washington.

Speaking of labor, what’s going on with workers’ centers and the other alternative labor groups we used to hear about? Apparently a lot. The team discusses how these groups have stayed below the radar, yet still relevant. The episode wraps up with the latest legislative scorecard.
