The 10 biggest limited-service burger restaurants in the United States

While limited-service burgers seems like one of the most obvious and stable restaurant categories, there was some movement within the segment last year.

Every year, Nation’s Restaurant News and Datassential partner to present The Top 500, the definitive sales ranking of restaurants in America.

One element of this data is restaurant segment, meaning each can be broken down by systemwide domestic sales, unit, and estimated sales per unit. NRN has been analyzing the Top 10 restaurant chains in each segment by sales.

The 10 biggest limited-service burger restaurants, out of 40 on the full Top 500 list, are largely the same as they were in 2021. There was, however, movement among numbers 8 through 10 — including a newcomer to the Top 10.

All of these chains fall within the Top 50 restaurant chains by systemwide domestic sales, although two saw sales dip year-over-year, two closed net units and two saw a drop in estimated sales per unit. The fastest-growing chain in this segment grew by 13.9%.
