ATLANTA Casual-dining chain Hooters said it is rolling out a seasonal menu with four new food offerings and two new cocktails. The limited-time menu, which will run for eight weeks, features shareable appetizers for groups watching college basketball tournaments and several seafood options for customers observing Lent.
Hooters’ seasonal menu additions come two weeks after the debut of the chain’s $5.99 boneless-wing platter, served every Wednesday. In recognition of that deal, the company declared that every Wednesday now would be known as “Wingsday.”
Seasonal menu items include the Blackened Mahi Sandwich, served on a ciabatta roll; Daytona Shrimp, which are smothered in Buffalo sauce and grilled; Grouper Bites, bite-size pieces of corn-flake-coated grouper served with tartar sauce; and Bleu Chips, a potato chip appetizer covered in bleu cheese, bacon, diced tomatoes and green onions.
“I am exceptionally pleased with how well these new items sold in our test markets and know they will fare just as well or better in our national rollout,” said Scott Kinsey, corporate chef for Atlanta-based Hooters of America Inc.
The two cocktails added to Hooters’ menu include the Spicy Mango Lemonade, made with Southern Comfort, and the Cherry Colada, made with 3 Olives Cherry Flavored Vodka.
Other new initiatives at Hooters include half-off appetizers and buy-one-get-one-free deals on Wednesdays, in conjunction with the $5.99 Wingsday platter.
“With our Wingsday Platter, Wednesdays are even better,” said Mike McNeil, vice president of marketing for Hooters of America. “If this special helps some of our guests weather these tough times, then we are happy.”
Hooters of America is operator or franchisor of more than 450 restaurants in 43 states and 26 foreign countries.
