Sweetgreen’s chief development officer Jim McPhail departs the company

With Jim McPhail’s departure, Timothy Noonan has been promoted to SVP, development at the restaurant company.

Sweetgreen has announced in an 8-K filing that Jim McPhail, chief development officer, will depart the company effective Dec. 31. With this news, Timothy Noonan has been promoted to the position of SVP, development, effective immediately.

According to his LinkedIn page, McPhail has been with the company since October 2019.

Noonan has served in a variety of roles at the company since joining in May 2009, most recently serving as vice president, Operations Strategy and Restaurant Concept Design. In his new role, Noonan will assume the development responsibilities previously held by McPhail, including site selection, lease administration and construction and facilities management. Noonan will also continue his prior responsibilities of restaurant concept design. Noonan graduated from the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business in 2009.

Sweetgreen opened about 35 new restaurants on the year and ended Q3 with a total of 220 restaurants. The company expects to open between 23 to 28 restaurants next year, about one-third of which will include the “Infinite Kitchen” automated makeline.
