Restaurateurs want to extend Restaurant Week success

LOS ANGELES Restaurant Week promotions have been a big hit around the country this fall and some operators are finding creative ways to extend the marketing opportunities.

In Los Angeles, for example, the DineLA restaurant week event originally scheduled to end Friday has been extended through Oct. 21.

Some restaurants, such as BLVD 16 in the Hotel Palomar in Los Angeles, are taking it a step further. BLVD 16 said Friday it has planned a “post-DineLA” menu for what it is calling “Industry Week,” scheduled from Oct. 25 though Oct. 30. A three-course $30 menu will be available to showcase the restaurant’s new fall menu.

However, those who can prove they work in the food-and-beverage industry will get a 50-percent discount “to celebrate all of the hard work industry professionals have put into executing DineLA restaurant week,” officials at BLVD 16 said.

In New York, about 100 restaurants will offer prix-fixe takeout meals from Oct. 19 through Oct. 31 for what they have dubbed “Delivery Week,” following on the heels of that city’s restaurant week. The three-course menus available for delivery are priced at $12.09 for lunch and $20.09 for dinner.
