Sodexho buys loyalty-program firm Circles

PARIS Sodexho Alliance, parent of Gaithersburg, Md.-based contract foodservice company Sodexho USA, said Tuesday that it has inked a deal to acquire Circles, a marketing firm specializing in customer and employee loyalty programs.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Boston-based Circles provides concierge, incentive, retention and recognition solutions. Sodexho officials said in a statement that the acquisition would reinforce the contract feeder’s “expertise in quality of life services” and “provide strong synergies” for both companies’ clients in North America.

In 2006, Sodexho USA reported annual sales of $7.3 billion. It currently employs 125,000 workers.

Founded in 1997, Circles last year reported revenues of $50 million. The company has 750 employees.
