PHOENIX Ariz. McDonald's franchisee GLC Restaurants agreed to pay $550,000 to eight female employees to settle a lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which claimed the teenaged workers were sexually harassed by a male supervisor.
The regional office of the EEOC stated that GLC also agreed to provide training and education to its employees about sexual harassment and their rights under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. The franchisee also agreed to review and revise its policies regarding procedures to report and investigate sexual harassment complaints.
The lawsuit stemmed from allegations that a male manager made lewd comment and inappropriately touched the part-time female crew members at GLC's McDonald's units in Cordes Junction and in Camp Verde. Some of the workers were only 14 years old at the time, said EEOC trial attorney Michelle Marshall.
