AUSTIN Texas Aramark Corp. said it is “cooperating fully” with an investigation by Travis County, Texas, officials into alleged financial improprieties by employees of Aramark Sports & Entertainment Inc., which provides the foodservice at the Austin Convention Center.
Aramark spokesman David Freireich declined further comment, saying that it was the policy of the Philadelphia-based contractor “not to comment on an ongoing investigation.”
Travis County assistant district attorney Patty Robertson said in a court document that a grand jury is investigating the misuse of an account. Investigators allege that $600,000 to $1 million in the fund was siphoned from Aramark revenues during a three-year period and used for expenses unrelated to catering.
Robertson said the probe extends to an unspecified number of employees of Aramark Sports & Entertainment. Also included in the investigation is former convention center director Robert Hodge, who was fired from his post in April.
